Panic/Anxiety Disorder

by: Christina on Fri, May 18 2007

So, up until I was 9 I had a pretty great life. Apart from OCD I had no real sicknesses, fears, or complaints. Then I got sick.

It was a very bad flu which left me hospitalized over the weekend for severe dehydration.
When I got out of the hospital, I was in a constant state of anxiety I was nervous to do things which would leave me with no immediate way out or escape.
I was diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder and put on Zoloft.
All was good up until I turned 13. My anxiety disorder worsened and left me with agoraphobia. I was unable to go to school or places with a lot of people like supermarkets or malls. I was so scared of throwing up and not being able to escape to a washroom (my safe place). My Zoloft was increased, and I thought I was pretty good to go until I turned 15.
My doctor diagnosed me with Borderline Personality Disorder and decided to put me on a different anxiety medication, Celexa. It didn’t work at all, so the agoraphobia came back. It took a while to fully get over it again.
I am now 17 and I’m doing great. I’m still on my Zoloft, and don’t plan on going off of it or switching meds anytime soon.
