Living with Eating Disorders

Hi my name is Miriam , I live in Jamiaca, and my neice who just turned 16 has had 4 or 5 years off hell. I started with Anorexia, them bulemia , depression hoplessness , negative thoughts and I am so scared she is going to commit suicide. She has been hospitalized and many psychiatrist she will not stay on her meds, she acts up when in hospital , but you see, her Dad ( mostly) will not allow the doctors to do what they have to do, thats what I think anyway, as she starts to cry they take her out of the hospital, she is an only child and I think on top of this she has been spoilt,

She came to me crying that she now realizes she has a prob, but is afraid of the change, I do not know exactly what that means, so I am encouraging my brother , that now she is talking about it, and she now admits she has a problem to take her to the doctor and start back her sessions. So am hoping for the best .

I feel so helpless, and I wish my brother would just leave her in the hospital even if she is screaming down the place and having a temper tantrum. , but he wont, thats when he gives in and takes her home.

The patient has admitted to me that she reacts to the extreme in everything, anger, . She is also very insecure and low self esteem which i guess is all part of the illness.
