My Dear Dad

by: Sharon on Fri, Jul 13 2007

I wish i had a success story but I don’t. My dad died just 3 weeks ago from esophogeal cancer. He was diagnosed in late February and Passed on June 10, just 7 weeks after his long grueling treatment of chemo/radiation daily. My dad was 76 and a heavy smoker all of his life, but, until this illness, he was always healthy. It was a shock and and Enormous loss for my mom, my sister and I. We gained an education we wished we never had. I think of what could have been if only we caught it sooner, by the time it was diagnosed it was stage 3. The doctors gave us hope that if it didn’t spread he did have a chance to live 1-3 years. We were always hopeful. I miss him so very much my pain is deep.
