We knew she was not going to last forever, but it was hard seeing her go through chemotherapy with the vomiting and baldness Even though her physical apperance was changed, my aunt was never grumpy or resentful, and barely ever complained. It ripped at my family’s heartstrings to see her slowly fade away. She never was to sick or tired to play or do something with us. During her final weeks of life, my mom often went down to her house to see her sister and comfort her in the times of extreme pain. I, one schoolday, was awakened by my mom to go see Aunt Sue, most probably the last time I’d see her alive. I drove there with my dad, and he tried explaining the condition, but nothing could prepare me for what I soon saw. My aunt could not speak, and could only scream in pain in an armchair. I left sobbing. Barely a week later, we recieved the dreaded news: Aunt Sue was gone. But now, she’s in heaven, happy in her place up in the sky. And I know heaven’s a lot more holy than I ever thought before, if its good enough for my brave loving guardian angel, Aunt Sue. January 2008
