To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download ALS My mother had familial ALS. She was from northern Germany and had two sisters, one of which also has ALS The one thing I remember in retrospect, my mother’s skin was sensitive. Any metals other than gold or silver would give her a rash She was also very allergic to bee stings. She was working in the garden one day, started to get up and fell down: her left leg failed to support her. From what I know, ALS works from the arms and legs in. After the diagnosis, the disease moved quickly and she died a few years later. It’s a terrible way to go, your body stops working, but your mind is unafffected. She died at home under the care of Hospice and my family. My understanding of familial ALS is the defective gene is passed on by the mother and skips generations. Well, that was 14 years ago and I still miss her. |
