My life as a teenager with OCD

by: A.M on Wed, Apr 30 2008

Well, im a 16 year old girl and I have OCD. I found I had OCD about a year ago, i didn’t even know it existed. I was used to doing all these little rituals like counting my steps, fixing my bed perfectly and closing doors constantly. People, even my mom, used to tell me I was perfect. I had good grades, friends and everything was going well. When I was diagnosed with OCD i felt like a had this big flaw. After a while, I realized having OCD is not a big deal, and being different is not bad at all. You learn to live with the compulsions and everything. It is very disturbing to have this constant images pop into your head, but with treatment you can make it better. I’ve been on medication and my compulsions have decreased. Don’t feel bad if you have OCD there’s nothing wrong with being a little different! Never feel ashamed of inferior just because you have this =]
