My Social Phobia

by: Paula K Ohashi on Fri, Jan 18 2008

I was diagnosed as having social phobia the year of 2003, when I was nineteen years old. It was just when I was having some heard time going to classes because of the fear of other people’s eyes. Whnever I go out, I felt the negative thoughts of others thinking about me, and my whole body will start to shake, and I would freeze. For me, there was not any evidence that will describe the causation of my social phobia. I was born as being shy, and I used to hate people, and often escape from places with a lot of people.

From my personal experiences, I think the most significant causation that can be described here would be the shyness. It is often said that people with social phobia are often born being shy. The shyness are hidden back in their unconscious minds, however, as they grow up, I think the unconscious mind of shyness comes out into the conscious mind. Gradually they start to think about what other people think about them. The negative thoughts, which are in their minds will bring up the fear into their minds, and this is how the fear of anxiety is built up, which is called social anxiety disorder. This kind of shyness, that people with social phobia have, is also biologically said to be the body overreaction to stimuli.
